What is RSA? And why do we need it?

A Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA – SITHFAB201) certificate is required for any person who is going into the liquor industry in Australia.  If you want to work in a liquor licensed premises where you will be selling, supplying, or serving alcoholic beverages you must have successfully completed your RSA training.

RSA is mandatory training in Australia
All state and territory Licensing Authorities in Australia require that any person who works with liquor must have an RSA certificate.  Otherwise, the licensee of the premises will be in breach of the Liquor Control Act and may be fined or other hefty penalties imposed.

Hospitality Alliance Training, the training portal for Clubs WA, is a national leader in Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training, and is an authorised training provider of relevant state departments for Racing, Gaming, and Liquor.

So, how can you get your RSA certificate?

You can obtain your RSA online or via distance learning through Hospitality Alliance Training’s website:

You can complete your training at your own pace - it’s cheap, it’s convenient, and you will become qualified to serve alcohol responsibly in no time!  In addition, the certificate through Hospitality Alliance Training is industry preferred as it provides you with good learning outcomes to ensure compliance with licensing regulations.

Train with Confidence

How confident are you that your restaurant is meeting all your compliance requirements? If the answer is not a big assertive “YES” then it appears you have some thinking to do. If your restaurant is licensed, offence infringements can vary up to $10,000! That is definitely something you need to prevent with the right certification, but “How?” I hear you ask?

With newly added courses, Hospitality Alliance Training is known for their top-class Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Approved Manager (MLP1) courses. While most people tend to go for either the expensive or crazy cheap companies, you deserve the best quality training without the worry of over spending and not getting what you paid for. Hospitality Alliance Training gives you a very reasonable price whilst providing top-quality industry specialist training that other providers cannot compare with.

A stand out problem in the training industry is the lack of understanding you or your employees may face when participating in training. You may have specific questions, require English language help, need extra learning support or just prefer a face-to-face learning experience. Hospitality Alliance Training recognises these problem areas in both our online and classroom options for RSA and Approved Manager courses. You also have access to complete professional support before, during and after your training experience; issues and concerns are easily solved with our specialists.

So next time you allocate your staff to complete an RSA or MPL1 course, don’t make them scroll through a never ending Google search to find a provider; register for training under a top-quality specialist at

Don’t forget Hospitality Alliance Training also offer a variety of high standard Food Safety courses for all states and restaurants. Meet the regulatory needs with excellence and train with the best.

New year, new me! I believe that’s the catch phrase we all say as the new year swings by. For me, 2014 did mean some significant changes. Firstly, I was about to become  a university student.  I did however, have 3 months till uni actually started and since my casual Christmas seasonal job was over, I was already feeling the effects of being what they call, a ‘Poor student’. I spent the entire day on seek searching endless pages for jobs in the retail and sales sections but no one seemed to be hiring after the Christmas period. I then switched my search options to jobs In hospitality to find well over 100 jobs I could apply for. Unfortunately I was halted in my tracks but two small issues, one, I was lacking any experience in hospitality and two, I was also lacking a responsible service of alcohol certificate. Luckily, I found a way to combine both my issues and have them magically disappear at the same time. RSA courses was quickly typed into my search bar and I was faced with quite a few courses that I could do online. After flicking through pages of courses, I realised that even though some of them were fairly cheap, they were not job ready or even recognised. Given that the only experience I had in hospitality was making my mother a cup of tea, I wanted to do a course I could actually learn from. It was then I came across a RSA course from Hospitality Alliance Training, which would provide me with job ready and nationally recognised qualifications. The even better thing was that they had continued their December discount till the end of January so it would only cost me $45! Not bad for a poor student like myself! I downloaded the manual and read through carefully before completing the course. January has bought on a tonne of new job opportunity’s in hospitalitiy that I would feel comfortable and ready for. For all you students out there looking for some extra cash over the summer period, I recommend an RSA from the hospitality Alliance training group. Remember the catch phrase, new year, new me and take on a new challenge and job opportunity’s by also securing your RSA today.

Is your business ready for the upcoming festive season?

Here's how you can get through the upcoming busy season:

If you’re a manager or owner of any hospitality business, then it’s important your staff/employees are currently up to date with their RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol).

With an RSA from Hospitality Alliance Training, your staff will have an industry preferred and job ready qualification on completion. Not only that, but this RSA course provides a strong learning outcome so your staff will come away with a knowledgeable outlook about the RSA attributes (much more rewarding than just simply ticking yes or no!).

With the busy season coming up, now is the perfect opportunity to ensure that your staff are prepared for their roles in hospitality, especially staff members new to the industry who’ll be needing as much information as they can get! It’s also ideal to remind more experienced staff members about their roles in their current positions.

A Hospitality Alliance Training RSA is the professional decision when updating your staff members RSA’s, and until the end of December you can secure them from $35*(conditions apply). Head onto for more details.
